Le genou terroriste de Sonia
C'est un peu ce qui est arrivé à Sonia il y a quelque temps. Sonia, 33 ans. Jeune maman. Marathonienne. Un regard doux et timide, un sourire angélique, un corps de gymnaste, une discipline de fer. Le genre de fille qui s'est levée un matin avec l'envie de courir. Elle n'avait jamais couru de sa vie. Avant même de commencer son entraînement, elle s'est inscrite au marathon d'Ottawa. Objectif: courir 42 km en 4h12. Six mois plus tard, elle a franchi la distance en 4h11. Après le marathon, Sonia, qui n'avait jamais fait de vélo et de natation de sa vie, a décidé de se mettre au triathlon.
Quand elle ne s'entraîne pas pour un «petit» Ironman dès 5h30, embrassant l'aube à toute vitesse sur la voie Camillien-Houde, Sonia est anesthésiste. Pas le genre de personne que l'on imaginerait d'emblée en train de fomenter une attaque nucléaire. Sa spécialité, c'est tout le contraire: apaiser la douleur des autres.
Tout ça pour dire que, si j'étais douanière, Sonia serait sans doute la dernière personne au monde que j'aurais soupçonnée de trafic d'armes nucléaires. Mais bon, les douaniers doivent se méfier, c'est l'essence même de leur travail. Et les terroristes essaient sans doute de les déjouer, c'est leur cruelle mission. Ils n'ont pas d'étiquette dans le front ni de sourire carnassier qui les distingue. Ils n'ont pas l'habitude non plus de déclarer leurs armes nucléaires au poste-frontière. Dans le doute, depuis les attentats du 11 septembre 2001, le douanier ne s'abstient surtout pas.
Un samedi matin, donc, Sonia et son frère Sylvain, vêtus de leurs maillots de triathloniens, ont décidé d'aller s'entraîner à Lake Placid, dans l'État de New York. Ils ont quitté Boucherville avec, dans leur voiture, deux vélos, quelques muffins, du Gatorade. Rien de bien suspect a priori.
Il était environ 10h. De peur que l'attente soit trop longue à Lacolle, ils se sont dirigés vers la guérite d'inspection de Rouses Point. Un tout petit poste frontalier. Il n'y avait presque personne. Ils étaient contents. Jusqu'à ce que le douanier leur demande très sérieusement en les voyant: «Transportez-vous des armes nucléaires?»
Sonia et son frère se sont regardés, perplexes. Ils trouvaient la question un peu drôle, mais ils n'ont pas ri. Ils savaient bien qu'ils n'avaient rien à se reprocher. Même pas un fruit illégal, rien. Leur condition de présumés terroristes en maillot et cuissard avait quelque chose d'absurde.

Pour Sonia, la fausse alerte terroriste s'est terminée en rigolade. «Bon entraînement! Soyez prudents.» Le douanier, coureur lui aussi, a compati avec elle quand il a su que sa blessure au genou l'avait privée de deux mois de course.
Le Centre des femmes West Island offre un groupe de soutien pour les femmes ayant vécues une fausse couche, un deuil périnatal ou la mort d'un nouveau-né un soir par mois. Le groupe «Healing Together» permettra aux femmes de rencontrer d'autres femmes

Trail A= .75 Mile
Trail B= 1.5 Miles
Trail C= 3 Miles
There is cabins you can rent and primative camp sites along with a bunch of sites for campers
This is a great place to take the family for a ride and then when you want to hit it a little harder you can ride trail C, Trail C is set up where you can ride parts of it are all of it. Along trail C you will intersect with Paved roads and depending on the weather even some mudd or water. This place often gets over looked because Baton Rouge trails are close. Its an extremely nice park, very clean and its very well taken care of. I know and see one of park custodians riding around on his ATV picking up trash and taking care of trails.
The trails are not technical and not very hard. My buddy and I call it the "ROOTS" because it has alot of exposed roots and tight turns. Only two flow sections that can get you going. Don't be confused by my ratings. If you pedal fast, the trail will challenge you aerobically and it will be more technical because of the speed.
Recommended Route: I road this trail a few times, like reviewer above its a great place to take the family, there is pavillions, pic nic tables, bbq pits, paved road riding, water park, canoe and boating. Goof beginner stuff if you like the south swamppy scene this is for you, dont go shortly after a rain it will be muddy flooded and wet. There are snakes on a lot of the trails, and tons of armadillos. Twice I saw 2 deere running off through the woods. For the most part the trails are nice and kept up, with gravel, wood bridges and dirt. A must of you like swamp scene and wild like on the trails with you :-)
Recommended Route: Take the short trail A your first time around, or to take the young ones on thier first ride, if they can handle the roots and armadillos after a break take them on trail B, this one is a little longer mostly flat with a few mud or water spots after a rain with some exposed roots here and thier. If the young ones do good on trail B and you think you can take a little more then your all set for trail C the 3 mile trail and its a treat, around the back site it gets kinda hilly which is a change from the rest of the flat trail and the soil gets a little more sandy on the ups and downs which is a great change up. Along the ways you will see boy scout primitive camp sites " I would never camp here " I would be to scared to get blue runner snake attacked at nite or carried off by armies of armadillo's LOL but a great place during the day when its dry.
