On Monday, a 91-year-old World War II vet named William Kuzmiak called me to ask if I could help him find a lost picture of his wife with famous cartoonist Herblock. Kuzmiak wasn’t worried about privacy ; he just wanted the picture of his deceased wife back. A CHARD man has been banned from selling a miniature model of Adolf Hitler on an auction website because it could be classed as Nazi propaganda.
Philip Fursman has been buying plain models from a UK company, painting them and then selling them on the eBay website for a number of years for a small profit.
But he fell foul of the site’s policies when he tried to sell a model of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.
An eBay spokes-man said: “We don’t permit members to list items that contain propaganda or memorabilia with Nazi or SS markings.
“These items may be considered offensive by the eBay community and may be against the law in some countries.”
But Mr Fursman said: “If you look at the photo of the model, there are no SS markings on him.
“If I painted him blue, people might have thought it was Blakey from the old ‘On the Buses’ sitcom!”
The eBay spokesman added: “We know it is frustrating to see items removed from the website but people are not allowed to list items that promote or glorify hatred, violence or racial intolerance.
