Law Enforcement Blotter: 6/20: Man Arrested for Possession of Drugs ...
Early Chief of Police David Mercer reported that they arrested a man on Saturday who was in the possession of drug and counterfeit money. According to the report, Officer Amanda Williams received information that a subject, who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, was located at a residence in the 100 block of Chaparral Drive in Early.
According to the report, 27-year-old Steven Mack Patton peacefully surrendered, coming out to meet the officer as she arrived at the residence. Patton was arrested and the officer located several packages of what appeared to be illegal drugs packaged for sale lying on the floor near the door to the residence, Mercer reported.
Early Police report that once at the Brown County Jail, officers learned that Patton had swallowed some methamphetamine prior to Officer Williams making contact. Patton was transported to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center emergency room where he was examined by doctors.
Upon searching Patton’s room at the residence, officers located approximately $220 of counterfeit $20 bills, according to Mercer.
“Patton was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and numerous prescription medications, all packaged for sale,” stated Mercer. “Patton also packaged some candle wax giving the appearance of methamphetamine and admitted he was going to sell them as meth.”
Patton was charged with a total of 6 felonies for the various drugs and the counterfeit money. As of Monday morning, Patton was being held on a total of $50,000 in bonds at the Brown County Jail.

*9:30am-A Brownwood Officer responded to the Gate 1 Motor Inn in reference to theft. According to the report, the patio furniture in the swimming area was reported to have been stolen. If a suspect can be identified, the business does intend to pursue charges.
Friday, June 17
*2:10pm-Brownwood Police received a report of phone harassment from the front office of an apartment complex in the 300 block of Bluffview Drive. An investigation was initiated.
*3:18pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to Park Road 15 to a report of two telephone poles being broken and the telephone line, which was strung over the road, was pulled down. Verizon officials said it would cost over $10,000 to fix the lines and poles and an investigation is continuing.
