Jimmy Watson: Buzzard adopts Haughton resident
It's shadowed by a large, open-faced workshop/storage building in desperate need of a woman's touch. Adorned with more than 60 deer sheds from spikes to 11 points, the shop's rafters are a testament to Kenly's success as a deer hunter. W.E. apologizes for the disarray he's been unable to lift much since having three electrodes attached to his heart to keep it beating whenever it decides to stop. Blondell Kenly was sitting in a deer stand on their 206-acre leased plot about four miles from their home one chilly fall morning when she looked up to see a bobcat headed her way. She fired, the bobcat fell, but Blondell was surprised by what she saw next. A peacock came racing through the brush and began pecking at the downed bobcat. Apparently it had chased the big cat off a nest and was making sure it was well out of the territory.Wild Bob Cat - News

SCOTTSDALE - A bobcat that made itself right at home in a valley man's backyard has been trapped and will be released into the wild. Jack Ledbetter first spotted the bobcat on the back wall of his yard near 120th Place and Via Linda. When the cat left,
Bobcat walks from Newport Bay to Santa Ana Zoo - The Santa Ana ...
“On Tuesday morning our grounds maintenance crew noticed a large cat sitting in a tree just outside the zoo office. They notified others at the zoo and we called our veterinarian, Dr. Scott Weldy, to come and assist with the capture of this animal. It was resting in the trees. It appeared to be a bobcat, but we didn’t want to get too close to it so we didn’t scare it into running.
“The vet came, decided to dart the animal and then captured the animal and took it back to his clinic. Initially he believed the cat to be a bobcat hybrid because it had an unusual tail for a bobcat and very pronounced spots. He also thought it was probably someone’s declawed pet since it did not try to claw or bite him when it was captured. After some research, he discovered that the cat was a bobcat with full claws and teeth. The USGS* tracks bobcats in the county and believes our bobcat is probably an offspring of the bobcats at Upper Newport Bay. The female there has very pronounced spots. This young male was dispersing from his parent’s home range and looking for his own space to live. He was still looking when he came across the Santa Ana Zoo. They are so secretive that he had wandered to the zoo and no one ever saw him coming.”

“Last week someone tied a giant tortoise to a tree outside the zoo and left it there in the sun. We work closely with animal control and rescue groups and encourage people to work with those groups when they can no longer take care of their pets. It can be a serious problem for the zoo when people dump off their animals at the zoo. All of the animals we add to the zoo’s collection undergo a minimum 30-day quarantine to make sure they are healthy and do not bring diseases into our collection. Some of the animals that people have dumped off at the zoo were found to be in terrible health (often people don’t know how to properly care for exotic animals) and carrying parasites or diseases which could be spread to our animals or our visitors.”
Bobcat vs. Lynx: Lynx are a little bigger than bobcats. Lynx have a gray coat while bobcats are normally dappled. Lynx live in Europe, Asia, Canada, Alaska and northern US. The bobcat’s territory is limited to the continental US, southern Canada and northern Mexico.
