Oracle May Not Get A Penny From Google
, "First, the Oracle patents will have to be found valid, either by the court or in reexamination. To the extent the claims contained within those patents are modified and/or narrowed, the basis for the alleged infringement by Google may not survive. As I have noted in earlier articles, more than 50% of patents that are subjected to reexamination end up with their claims being denied or narrowed. So there is a strong likelihood that, at least in reexamination, the Oracle patents may not end up being what they appear to be today."Another logic failed.
Larry further wrote: "Whatever the merits of Oracle’s lawsuit against Google it’s hard to not notice that the plaintiff has some key advantages. Given that Google has an ongoing revenue stream there’s a lot at stake in this upcoming trial to determine if Android violates Java patents. In the end, Oracle’s $1.3 billion in damages against SAP may look like chump change."
I don't see any relation what so ever in comparing SAP case with Android. SAP was a case where SAP's subsidiary had downloaded millions of Oracle's files to get Oracle customers. It was not about 'patents' which are yet to be proven valid. How can Larry compare this with Java battle?
Larry took support of JMP Securities analyst Patrick Walravens. He wrote, "Oracle “carries a big stick in patent litigation.” Why? Oracle has a ton of patents—many acquired through the Sun acquisition. Walravens wrote: We estimate that Oracle has over 20,000 patents. A review of the patent office’s database suggests that Oracle is the assignee for over 12,000 patents in its own name, along with over 7,000 for Sun Microsystems and over 1,000 for its various acquisitions (including PeopleSoft, Siebel and Agile, among others). In comparison, Google is the assignee for only 689 patents."
I find it misleading as what are we going to do with a ton of patents, when the court is asking Oracle to drop 129 claims out of 132? Oracle's tons of patents are irrelevant in this case especially when the validity of the remaining 3 patents is yet to be proven. What am I going to do with your 1000 motorboats when all we are talking about is a dirt bike race!
Larry wrote, "That Google disadvantage is why the company is trying to buy Nortel’s patent portfolio."
US software patent is a big mess. Google was doing the right thing by staying out of the patent mess, but recent patent muddle is forcing the company to create a patent pool for defence. Not having patent is *not* disadvantage, given the way USPTO is approving software patents. It's just a big mess.

PeopleSoft, Inc. is a company that offers a variety of human resource management software and customer relations. Among its main clients are companies, governments and various other large organizations. PeopleSoft was acquired by Oracle Corp. in 2005 and is now marketed under the company.
Feature Comparison
PeopleSoft is considered by many to be a much smoother and easier to use than SAP management system. In terms of look and feel, and the many options to customize the user is out tops in the opinions of many societies.
That said, both systems are actually quite similar to the base, although their respective front ends seem to differ. In particular, the rear end of PeopleSoft objects such as records, fields, applications and tools just seem to be better and easier to manage.
In addition, SAP took the lead in terms of integrating HR in the manufacture, distribution and finance. If your company is not involved in the production, however, PeopleSoft would be the best option.
In use
SAP and PeopleSoft both aim to do everything and do everything well. Unfortunately, both products are still missing a few of these goals. However, their attempts at developing products that take a modular approach to software management mean a step in the right direction.Attempt to cover all the different functions that each individual module does is simply beyond the capacity and budget of any one supplier. As it is, systems such as SAP and PeopleSoft generally provide viable tools and feature sets to the task at hand.
