Romney to skip July Vegas debate, do six forums through October

The move reflects the frontrunner's attempt to limit his exposure to opponents who almost certainly won't be as gentle with Romney as they were at the New Hampshire debate earlier this month.

But Romney is hardly evading joint forums. He'll participate in six of them between now and the end of October.

He will appear in a September debate at the Reagan Library sponsored by NBC and POLITICO as well as a Tea Party Express/CNN debate later that month in Tampa, his campaign tells POLITICO. In October, Romney will participate in a New Hampshire debate put on by the Washington Post and Bloomberg as well as a debate in Vegas staged by CNN and held in conjunction with the Western Republican Leadership Conference.

This in addition to the two debates he's already committed to - a Fox News/Iowa GOP debate in August and Fox News/Florida GOP debate in September — partly as an attempt to soften the blow of skipping straw polls held in conjunction with the two forums.

A Romney aide said that they also expect to participate in debates held in South Carolina and Michigan after October.

Its still way too early and we all know what happened the last time around when most experts and public opinion polls jumped on the Hillary Clinton is 'inevitable' bandwagon and will face Rudy Gulini in the general election. A lot of people was left with eggs on their faces but politics is a short memory sport so many of those same people are reading the same polls are jumping head-first on the "Mitt will win bandwagon" or Mitt will be tough for Obama bandwagon.

Frankly the Flip-Flop strategy has already be used in 2004 by John Kerry and we all saw the ending of that movie. Flip-flop politicians don't win because they can't be trusted, ask Senator Specter who flipped parties to save his career only to lose. Flip-flop Mitt might end up being a blessing in disguise for Obama as he is so easy to caricature. No need to come up with something clever or catchy for an electorate that seems to have attention deficit disorder (ADD) the evidence is there for even the most non-political to pick up on.Just play video clips from his days in MA, where he sounded almost like a Democrat and then contrasted with recent videos of 2008 and 2011 and most of the independents and Democrats will get the point and then make their case at the polls .
